Music and praise ministry

We understand worship as the communal and individual act and attitude by which we center our lives constantly in praise and thanksgiving. It is also the purpose and end result of our being the people of God.

As a communal act, our worship finds its main expression as we gather on Sundays to praise our God, to fellowship together, to hear God’s Word and to celebrate in spirit and truth the blessings God has poured over us and His own glorious being.

As an individual act and attitude, our worship involves a life of thankful acknowledgment of our great God, of praise, of proclamation of the gospel of Jesus and of service in Jesus’ name.

Music

Music has always been a very important part of the ministry at Fellowship Community Church.
Under the able leadership of Marilyn Mangels, the music director, and the skillful assistance of Sérgio de Souza, the church organist, Fellowship has always been known for its outstanding worship music.

The following are some of the aspects of this ministry and also opportunities to contribute:

THE CHOIR: Fellowship’s choir provides music for the Sunday 10:30 am worship service. It is made up of members, friends and occasional guest singers. The choir sings anthems, celebrates the great music of the church and presents special music programs throughout the year. Choir rehearsals are held on Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m.

SOLOISTS: Our worship services are often enriched with the contribution of special soloists, both members and friends.

SPECIAL INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC: Besides the wonderful music of our Allen organ, regularly performed by Sérgio de Souza, and occasional guest musicians, at the Sunday 10:30 am worship service, Fellowship often features other special instrumental music in both worship services.

CONGREGATIONAL HYMNS: Every Sunday at the 10:30 am worship service the congregation sings together from the great hymns of the church. Traditional hymns in Portuguese are also sung at the 6:00 p.m. Sunday worship.

CONTEMPORARY PRAISE MUSIC : The 6:00 p.m. Sunday worship features wonderful contemporary praise music, sung by the congregation and accompanied by guitar.

CONCERT SERIES FCC promotes a Concert Series every year. Concerts are held on Saturday afternoons (in season), featuring a range of performances by choirs, soloists, ensembles and instrumental soloists. See calendar link.
